History of mathematics
The study of mathematics as an "extraordinary discipline" began in the 5th century BC with the Pythagoreans, who coined the term "mathematics" from the Ancient Greek μαμης (mathematics), meaning "subject of instruction." [4] Greek mathematics improved greatly. methods (especially through mathematical rigor in deductive reasoning and proofs) and expanded the subject matter of mathematics.[5] Although they made virtually no theoretical contributions.
